Ayatollah Jawad Fazel Lankarani Meets IRIB College Managers

Ayatollah Jawad Fazel Lankarani called on the managers of IRIB College Monday 24^th of May. In this meeting, Mr. Akbari gave briefing on the activities of the College especially in regards to training and educating seminary students in the field of art. He said, "Art and media play a very constructive role for the time being. Any negligence on the part of the religious seminaries would end up in a disaster for us. Therefore, we need to persuade the religious students to attach importance to art."

Thereupon, Ayatollah Fazel said, "I would like to thank you for coming over. The first point which I wish to make is that, in my view, it is very important, religiously and scientifically, for the students of the Religion to get into art. Our government and the system in its entirety need such people who specialize in scientific and religious fields.

The second point to which I would like to draw your attention is that when it comes to art and art-related matters, we should note that on the one hand, IRIB needs individuals who are conversant with the religion and on the other hand, our religion has many artistic aspects which we have not found yet. We believe our religion is a comprehensive religion that in addition to cultural, ideological, political and social aspects, it has the artistic aspect also. The founder of the revolution, late Imam Khomeini explained the political aspect of the religion, and today the artistic aspects and jurisprudential issues concerning media have to be discovered and explained.  In the same way that the Islamic laws pertaining to children, women and legal matters are studied, we need to study arts also. For this reason, we have decided in the Jurisprudence Center of Pure Imams to launch a group in the name of "jurisprudence of art" because we have to obtain and make available the religion's approach and procedures towards arts. Hence, in the same way that IRIB has felt the need for establishing this college, the Islamic seminary should also feel this need and take appropriate measures.

The third point is that if possible, you should benefit from the students who have studied at the Kharij level for some years, because they are more capable and better acquainted with the foundations and principles of jurisprudence."

At the end, Ayatollah Jawad Fazel Lankarani expressed readiness on the part of the Jurisprudence center of Pure Imams (a.s.) to cooperate with IRIB College wherever necessary. He underscored the need for cooperation between IRIB College and other research and scientific centers.
